Join us for guest speaker Katie Minkalis who will give a historical overview of essential oils and their role in health through the ages. Katie will also share tips on using essential oils for modern health and well-being. Enjoy light refreshments and mingle while exploring our current exhibits - Be Well: A Dialogue of Health and Wellness Through the Ages -and- A Sense of Place. As always, you can also visit our second-floor exhibit Building Community, which tells the story of the city of West Chicago's early settlers. Perfect for a girl's (or couple's!) night out!
Katie became interested in natural solutions for healthcare when trying to treat several chronic illnesses. Upon experiencing positive results from essential oils, she began using them on her children and family for a variety of other day-to-day reasons, including sleep, mood management, pain management, seasonal relief, cleaning, injuries, and more. As a teacher, the science and history behind the oils have been particularly interesting to Katie: Why have these oils have stood the test of time? Why are they making a resurgence? Katie explores these topics as a part of her ongoing essential oil practice.
